            The School Board of Madison County, Florida announces that:
            1.         The School Board’s regular public meeting which was scheduled for April 18, 2022 at 6:00 pm has been rescheduled.  This regular public meeting, to which all persons are invited to attend, will now be held on April 19, 2022 at 6:00 pm, at the School Board Meeting Room, 210 North East Duval Avenue, Madison, Florida 32340; and,
            2.         The School Board will hold a special public meeting, to which all persons are invited to attend, on April 18, 2022 at 6:00 pm at the main courtroom of the Madison County Courthouse, 125 South West Range Avenue, Madison, Florida 32340.  The purpose of this special meeting is for the School Board to resolve an impasse pursuant to Section 447.403, Florida Statutes.  The impasse is between the School Board and the Madison County Education Association, AFT Local # 4375, FEA, NEA, Madison, Florida (Association) which is the bargaining agent for both (1) the Instructional Employees Bargaining Unit, and (2) the Education Support Professional Unit.  The impasse concerns both bargaining units.
            A copy of the agenda for each meeting may be obtained no earlier than 7 days prior to each meeting by writing to the School Board at 210 North East Duval Avenue, Madison, Florida 32340 or by calling Ms. Becky Bishop at (850) 973-5022.
            Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in any of the above meetings is asked to advise the School Board at least 48 hours before the meeting by contacting Ms. Becky Bishop at (850) 973-5022.  If you are hearing or speech impaired, please contact the School Board by calling 711.
            If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the School Board with respect to any matter considered at such meetings he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

February 21-25, 2022 was "Bus Driver Appreciation Week".  The Madison County School District wishes to thank all of our bus drivers for their service!  The schools and Transportation Department sponsored several activities in appreciation of our bus drivers throughout the week.
Madison County School District will be closed for Spring Break from March 21, 2022 through March 25, 2022. All Schools and the District Office will be closed during this time.

Read More - Spring 2022 Florida Space Art Contest for K-5 Students

Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez announced the launch of the 2022 Florida Space Art Contest. With March being Youth Art Month, students are encouraged to create an art piece inspired by the theme Florida is the Place for Space: Celebrating Florida’s Contributions to Space Travel and Exploration. Students in grades K-5 are invited to participate in the art contest. Student contest rules and guidelines can be found online at

“As Chair of Space Florida’s Board of Directors, I am proud to launch Florida’s Space Art competition for K-5 students,” said Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez. “This is an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and artistic talent while highlighting Florida’s iconic space coast, space travel, and exploration. I look forward to seeing all the submissions that, no doubt, will be out of this world.”

Space Florida, as a key sponsor of the Lieutenant Governor’s Space Art Contest, believes supporting STEAM education initiatives are an integral part of its mission.

“Space has long inspired the human imagination and we are excited to support the next generation of Florida artists develop their talents as they experience space as no others have before them,” said Space Florida CEO Frank DiBello. “We are excited to support the Lieutenant Governor through this art contest.”

About the Florida Space Student Art Contest
Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez’s Space Art Contest is open to all K-5 grade students in Florida. Each student will submit original, two-dimensional artwork based on this year’s theme. Submissions will be broken down in to two categories: K-2 and 3-5. Five original art pieces will be selected from each category, with a grand prize winner selected from each group.

About the Featured Artist
Jonlouis Gonzalez is the Featured Artist for the 2022 Florida Space Art Contest. His work is inspired by his love for space. Last year, Jonlouis’ art flew with the SpaceX Inspiration4 crew and donated to charity.

“As an artist and as someone who grew up watching space launches from my hometown of Melbourne, I could not be more excited to be a part of this Space Art Competition,” said Jonlouis Gonzalez. “It is my hope that students across our state become creative and inspired by our astronauts who are sent on missions to improve life for all of humanity.”

As a result in the rising number of Covid cases in the district, we are offering all students a Covid related excused absence for January 18th through January 21st.  School will still be open as normal, but parents who would like to keep their children at home during this week, have the freedom to do so.  Parents of students in grades K-2 will be able to pick up the week’s packet of materials starting Wednesday, Jan. 19th.  Students in grades 3 to 5 will have their assignments posted on Classroom Dojo, and students in grades 6-12 will be able to access their assignments on Google Classroom.  Please make sure your students complete the assignments the teachers are making available to them.

The District is strongly encouraging students who come to school and staff to wear masks.  We have also stocked all classrooms with extra sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer.

Please notify your school’s attendance clerk if you are choosing to keep your child at home during this week.
