Teenage Parent Program

In order to meet the needs of the teenage parent and pregnant teen, Madison County Schools have developed a teenage parent program. This program offers auxiliary services for qualified students who elect to participate. Eligibility criteria for the program are as follows:

  1. Any school age student who is pregnant or parenting or their preschool children (ages 0-5 years), who is not being served in another Madison County program, meets eligibility criteria to be served in the Teenage Parent Program.
  2. In addition to the required academic courses, students participating in the Teenage Parent Program will be required to take parenting skills classes either at MCHS or at the Madison County Health Department (MCHD). Attendance documentation must be provided for students enrolled at MCHD.
  3. Absences due to child care/pregnancy must be documented by a doctor’s note in order to be excused.
  4. Preschool children of teenage parents are eligible for the program as long as the parent remains in school.
  5. The preschool child will be placed in a licensed daycare program at the discretion of the Madison County School District.
